Description
The TAD C1000 Evolution Preamplifier is the analogue control centre for TAD’s Evolution Series system, designed to partner with the M1000TX or M2500MK2 power amplifiers and the D1000TX disc source. Its circuit architecture is fully balanced throughout — from input to output — using discrete components selected and matched by TAD’s engineers to achieve the lowest possible noise floor and the most linear transfer of signal character from source to amplification.
The C1000’s volume control employs a relay-switched resistor ladder that maintains channel balance to microscopic precision across its full range — a crucial consideration when partnering with sensitive high-efficiency loudspeakers or when resolving low-level musical detail. Multiple balanced and unbalanced inputs accommodate the full complement of analogue sources alongside digital converters and disc players. The output section is implemented in balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA formats, providing maximum compatibility with power amplifier topologies of all kinds.
The C1000 has been reviewed by pt.audio in 2024, and has appeared in Stereophile system context features alongside TAD’s Evolution Series components. It defines the character of an Evolution Series system: precise without being sterile, transparent without being aggressive, and built to a standard of fit and finish that reflects TAD’s uncompromising Japanese manufacturing culture. The C1000 is the ideal partner for any listener assembling a complete TAD Evolution system around the M1000TX or M2500MK2.
TAD products have earned recognition from Stereophile, The Absolute Sound, Hi-Fi News, What Hi-Fi?, and other leading international publications since the brand’s founding in 1978.
